Encryption Key

IDrive 360 backups are encoded with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256-bit encryption algorithm on transfer and storage.

When you add a computer to your account, in the 'Add Computers' screen you have the option to set an encryption key for your computer. If you select the option, on app installation, the 'Encryption Key' screen appears.

You can choose any one of the following options:

  • Default encryption key - IDrive 360 will automatically set an encryption key
  • Private encryption key - You can enter your private encryption key (known only to you)

Click 'Continue'.

Warning: IDrive 360 does not store your private encryption key on its servers. It is recommended that you archive it safely to backup and restore your data. However, if you choose the default encryption key, you need not remember it.
